Kids' Own Publishing Faciltiator
Kids’ Own Publishing co-creates books by kids for kids through a collaborative publishing process which builds confidence, creativity and connection. Together with artists, children and their communities make books that reflect their own unique worlds, and create infinitely imaginative new ones. When children publish books that reflect their own worlds (real and imaginary), they activate their inherent agency and creativity; strengthen their resilience, connection and self-confidence. Our work embodies child-centred and child-safe practices, and our projects uphold the rights of the child – particularly in relation to language and culture. In 2022 Kids’ Own embarked on their Kids’ Own Languages program and co-created books alongside several different language communities including students at the Victorian College of the Deaf, families from Melbourne’s Sikh community, multilingual playgroups from the inner city, and Hazara children and families in Dandenong.
