Join the Hot Lunch team at Hope Street Radio to celebrate the Australian launch of Leftovers. Hot Lunch was an artist-run gallery in Christchurch, New Zealand (2020-2021). After the 2020 lockdown the gallery opened and operated for 12 months. From the beginning, it was always important that Hot Lunch would exist beyond a physical space. Therefore, throughout the duration of the project the team created a series of posters, texts, prints, fliers and invitations that accompanied each show.

The publication Leftovers is a large format publication supported by Creative New Zealand. It builds on the momentum of the physical gallery space with documentation from shows, new texts, and page works from the artists that exhibited. The book includes contributions from key figures in Ōtautahi’s artist-run history, as well as a speculative dialogue with people who are deeply invested in the ongoing development of this city. The publication makes connections between shows, history and future.

Hot Lunch was an artist run gallery in Christchurch New Zealand (2020-2021). Hot Lunch opened on the 21st of August 2020 and 12 months, with the final show opening on the 6th of August 2021— fittingly at the beginning of the country’s 2nd COVID lock down. Hot Lunch built a program consisting of 12 shows/openings, 14 emerging artists, 3 public programs, 1 Christmas party, 1 basketball tournament and 1 closing party.
